By installing or using Taskinator you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. The app
Taskinator is a personal task planner that works offline on your phone. You need no account. A free version and an optional paid "Pro" upgrade are offered.
2. Licence to use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Taskinator on devices you own or control, for your own personal or internal business use, under these terms and the app-store terms of the store you downloaded it from (Google Play or Apple App Store). The source code in the public repository, where published, is licensed separately under the licence in its LICENSE file; these terms govern the app you install from a store.
3. Pro upgrade and payments
- Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks the features listed on the upgrade page (currently Autopilot, smart nudges, hands-free Tasky, changing tasks by voice, all three daily picks and one-tap insights).
- You can try Pro free for 14 days once per install from the upgrade page. The preview needs no payment details, does not renew and ends by itself; your tasks stay when it ends.
- Payment, taxes and refunds are handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store under their policies. We do not see or store payment details. You can restore a purchase on another device signed in to the same store account ("Restore purchase").
- Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or other laws that cannot be excluded.
4. Your data
Your tasks and settings stay on your device (see the Privacy Policy). You are responsible for keeping your own backups: use Settings, Export backup. If you delete the app or use "Delete all data", we cannot recover your data because we never had it.
5. Voice and third-party services
Voice features use your phone's speech-recognition and text-to-speech services, which are provided by your phone manufacturer or Google, may need an internet connection, and are subject to their own terms. Speech recognition can make mistakes: check what Tasky says it did, and use "undo" if it misheard you. Tasky changes only what its reply tells you it changed.
6. Reminders and Autopilot are aids, not guarantees
Reminders depend on your phone's alarm, notification and battery settings and can be delayed or blocked by them. Autopilot's suggestions are automatic guesses based on your own history. Do not rely on Taskinator alone for anything where a missed reminder could cause harm, such as medication, medical appointments or safety-critical duties. Taskinator is not a medical device and gives no medical advice.
7. Acceptable use
Do not copy, sell or redistribute the store version of the app, attempt to bypass the Pro purchase, reverse engineer it except where the law allows, or use it unlawfully.
8. No warranty
To the extent the law allows, Taskinator is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Capys is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, missed reminders or missed appointments, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Changes and ending
We may update the app and these terms; a new version date will be shown and the updated terms ship inside the app. If you keep using the app after an update you accept the new terms. You may stop using Taskinator at any time by uninstalling it. We may stop offering the app; a version you have installed keeps working offline.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction, without limiting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
